Maintenance Run-Ups

The following procedures for maintenance and pre-flight engine run-ups must be followed at all times.  For the purposes of this regulation, “run-up” area and “maintenance run-up area” shall refer to the paved run-up area northeast of runway 15-33 at the airport.  Aircraft will be allowed to taxi to and from the run-up area.  The Airport encourages all users to perform maintenance run-ups between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 10:30 p.m.

• During the hours of 2230 to 0600:

1. A) ALL maintenance engine run-ups must be performed in the run-up area.

2. B) For aircraft 12,500 lbs. and over, all pre-flight engine run-ups must be performed in the run-up area.  For aircraft of less than 12,500 lbs., pre-flight engine run-ups may be performed in either the run-up pit or the pre-flight area on the North Ramp.  On the North Ramp pre-flight area, the tailpipe must face taxiway Alpha.

• During the hours of 0601 to 2229:

1. A) ALL maintenance run-ups must be performed in the run-up area.

2. B) For aircraft 12,500 lbs. and over, all pre-flight engine run-ups must be performed in the run-up area.  For aircraft less than 12,500 lbs., pre-flight engine run-ups may be performed in either the run-up pit or the pre-flight area on the North Ramp.   On the North Ramp pre-flight area, the tailpipe must face taxiway Alpha.

• Only two aircraft will be permitted maintenance run-ups in the run-up area at any given time.

• Between the hours of 2230-0600, no run-up longer than 30 minutes is permitted.

• ALL aircraft must be positioned at a heading of 030 degrees and as close as to the downwind wall as possible.

• All aircraft must notify Airport Operations prior to the use of the maintenance run-up area between the hours of 2230 hrs – 0600 hours.

• Between the hours of 2230-0600, no run-up longer than 30 minutes is permitted.

• Airport Operations personnel will make a record all maintenance engine run-ups performed between 2230-0600 hours on form BMA-25.  Airport Operations will initiate an A-13 for any procedural violations.

Violations

• First offense: Letter of warning and copy of Maintenance Run-up Area Procedures

• Second offense: Letter of violation and $100 fine

• Third offense: Letter of violation and $200 fine

• Four and each subsequent offense: Letter of violation and $300 fine
