As severe weather approaches, Cape Cod Gateway Airport encourages everyone across the Cape to prepare early, stay informed, and stay safe.

🏠 Secure your property. Bring in or secure outdoor furniture, trash barrels, grills, decorations, and anything that could become a hazard in high winds.

🔋 Charge up now. Fully charge phones, battery packs, medical devices, and other essential electronics.

🔦 Prepare for outages. Have flashlights, batteries, drinking water, nonperishable food, medications, first-aid supplies, and pet necessities ready.

📱 Stay informed. Monitor forecasts and official alerts from the National Weather Service and local, county, and state emergency officials.

🚗 Know your evacuation plan. Cape Cod has limited evacuation routes. Know your evacuation zone, where you would go, and how you would get there. Follow instructions from public-safety officials.

🌊 Take flooding seriously. Avoid low-lying and flood-prone roads, move vehicles to higher ground when appropriate, and never drive, walk, or bike through floodwater.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Plan for everyone. Include children, older adults, people with medical or accessibility needs, and pets in your emergency plan.

⚠️ Use generators safely. Keep generators and other fuel-burning equipment outdoors and well away from doors, windows, and vents. Never operate them inside a home, garage, or enclosed space.

✈️ Flying from HYA? Check your flight status directly with your airline before traveling to Cape Cod Gateway Airport during significant weather.

Avoid unnecessary travel during the storm and follow guidance from emergency officials as conditions change.

Prepare early. Stay informed. Stay safe, Cape Cod.
