A Productive First Step: Cape Cod Gateway Airport Noise Abatement Roundtable

On Wednesday, September 16, Cape Cod Gateway Airport welcomed members of the community to our first public Noise Abatement Roundtable Discussion at Barnstable High School, with additional viewing available virtually through Zoom and a Facebook livestream.
The evening marked an important first step in an ongoing conversation about noise abatement and the airport’s relationship with the surrounding community. Following several months of conversations between airport staff and community stakeholders, the roundtable provided an opportunity for residents, aviation experts, airport representatives, and community partners to come together, share perspectives, ask questions, and discuss the path moving forward.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who took the time to attend, listen in virtually, ask thoughtful questions, and share their concerns and feedback. Open and constructive conversations like this are an important part of understanding the community’s experience and identifying opportunities to continue addressing noise impacts.
The airport has also undertaken recent initiatives aimed at further addressing noise abatement, and the roundtable allowed us to discuss these efforts while hearing directly from the people who are most connected to the issue. While meaningful change takes time, beginning this dialogue together is an important part of moving forward.
A special thank you goes to our hardworking Cape Cod Gateway Airport staff who dedicated their time and effort to preparing for and supporting the event. From planning and coordination to working throughout the evening, your commitment helped make the discussion run successfully and smoothly.
Most importantly, we are grateful for the constructive feedback, questions, and concerns shared throughout the evening. We recognize that this is an ongoing conversation, and we are committed to continuing to listen, learn, and work alongside our community.
This was the first in a series of public Noise Abatement Roundtable Discussions, and we look forward to continuing the conversation at future meetings. There is more work ahead, and we are glad to be taking these steps together as we work toward meaningful progress and a stronger partnership with our community.
Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this first discussion a productive beginning. We look forward to continuing the work together.
