Yesterday morning, September 17, members of our Cape Cod community gathered at Parker’s River Landing in West Yarmouth for the opening ceremony of The Wall That Heals.

It was a meaningful morning of remembrance, reflection, and gratitude as we came together to honor the more than 3 million Americans who served in the U.S. Armed Forces during the Vietnam War and remember the 58,281 men and women whose names are inscribed on The Wall.

The Wall That Heals is a three-quarter-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., accompanied by a mobile Education Center. Together, they provide an opportunity for visitors to learn more about the Vietnam War, the Memorial, and the lives and stories represented by the names on The Wall.

As a part of the Cape Cod community, Cape Cod Gateway Airport is honored to recognize this important moment of remembrance. We are grateful to the veterans who served, the families who carry their memories, and the volunteers and community members who helped bring this meaningful experience to Cape Cod.

We also extend our thanks to everyone who attended the opening ceremony and to those who will take the time to visit The Wall That Heals throughout its stay. Events like this give our community an opportunity to pause, remember, and ensure that the stories of those who served are never forgotten.
